Preparing for a professional exam like US CMA Part 2 requires patience, consistency and a lot of mental focus. It is a stage where students move beyond basic learning and start dealing with more application based subjects. For many candidates this phase becomes a true test of discipline and clarity.
Rakesh approached US CMA Part 2 with a clear intention of strengthening his understanding of advanced finance and management concepts. As the preparation progressed he realised that success at this level depends on how well you can connect ideas and apply them under exam pressure. Part 2 challenged him to think logically and develop confidence in decision making rather than relying only on memorised content.
Clearing US CMA Part 2 became a meaningful achievement for Rakesh because it reflected his steady effort and commitment to learning. His experience shows that with focused preparation and the right mindset students can overcome the challenges of Part 2 and take a strong step forward in the US CMA journey.
Here is what Rakesh shared about his US CMA journey, in his interview with us –
Q1: Congratulations on clearing Part 2 of the US CMA. What was your first reaction when you saw the result?
Seeing the result was a very emotional moment for me. I felt genuinely happy and also very relieved. There was a lot of effort involved in preparing while managing work and personal responsibilities. For a few seconds I just sat quietly and let it sink in. Clearing the exam gave me a sense of confidence that my hard work and discipline had paid off.
Q2: There are so many finance courses out there. What was it about CMA US that clicked with you and made you say yes this is the one I want to pursue?
Before choosing CMA US I spent quite some time researching different professional courses. The Indian courses I looked at required a minimum three year articleship along with another three years to complete the course. That felt like a very long journey especially when I wanted to start applying my learning sooner. Among international options CMA US stood out because it could be completed within two years. The syllabus also aligned very well with what I wanted to learn such as management accounting decision making and corporate finance. That practical focus made CMA US the right choice for me.
Q3: Every professional course has its tough moments. During your CMA preparation what did you personally find the most challenging and how did you work through it?
Balancing work and studies was definitely the toughest part of my journey. After a full day at work it is not easy to stay consistent with studies. There were days when I felt tired but I still pushed myself to study at least two hours every day after work. On weekends I tried to study around six hours to cover more topics and revise. Having a fixed routine helped me stay disciplined. Moosal Sir explained the concepts in a very clear way which made it easier for me to understand and practice questions on my own.
Q4: Before starting CMA you already knew it would not be easy. After going through the syllabus and exams did it turn out to be tougher or more manageable than you expected?
I would say it was more manageable than I initially thought. The syllabus looks vast at first which can be intimidating. But once you start understanding the concepts step by step it becomes much easier to handle. Regular practice of the question bank helped me understand the exam pattern and improve my confidence. The key for me was not memorising but actually understanding how and why things work.
Q5: How did the training mentors and overall support during your CMA preparation help you stay focused and clear the exam?
The guidance I received during my preparation played a very important role in keeping me focused. Moosal Sir taught the subjects in a very structured and easy to understand manner which helped me build strong basics. His explanations made even difficult topics feel simpler. I am truly grateful for his support and guidance throughout the journey. I do wish he was teaching Part 1 as well. Having the right mentor definitely makes the CMA journey smoother and more manageable.
Rakesh’s story proves that when you stay consistent and trust the process, you move one strong step closer to becoming a US CMA.
