Sometimes, the most rewarding experiences come from bringing together diverse minds around a shared passion for learning. That’s exactly what’s happened with the Value & Valuation Masterclasses—an ongoing series made possible by an exclusive partnership between The Economic Times and The WallStreet School.
How Value and Valuations Unite Diverse Minds in Learning
The Value & Valuation Masterclasses have quickly become a standout initiative, bringing together over 350 professionals from across industries for each session. The most recent masterclass, held over two weekends (10–11 and 17–18 May 2025), showcased the power of collaborative learning, with participants ranging from CEOs, CFOs, and CTOs to fund managers, directors from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, VPs from Deutsche Bank, senior cardiac surgeons from Manipal Hospital, an Assistant Professor from ISB, and partners and associate partners from top consulting firms, including the Big 4. Young finance enthusiasts also joined, creating a vibrant mix of experience and perspective.
When Learning Comes Alive with Value and Valuations
The sessions have been led by our co-founders, CA Himanshu Jain and CA Manoj Goel. Mr. Himanshu, with his background in investment banking and equity research, guided participants through the principles of value investing. Mr. Manoj, whose experience spans corporate finance and training, led the valuation discussions. Their approach made complex concepts not just understandable, but truly engaging by using real-world examples, actual annual reports, and step-by-step breakdowns of financial statements.
Rather than relying on traditional lectures or endless slides, the masterclasses are built around lively discussions, interactive demonstrations, and case studies that reflect actual business challenges. Whether the topic is analyzing a balance sheet or applying valuation models such as Discounted Cash Flow and Relative Valuation, the focus is always on practical application. Participants get hands-on experience, working through real data and learning how to interpret financial information just as professionals do.
Founders’ Experience: A Weekend to Remember
Himanshu Jain shared:
“Conducting the 4th Masterclass on Value Investing with The Economic Times was truly exciting. Honest confession—I had never taught an audience of this magnitude before. It included CEOs, CFOs, CTOs, consulting partners, entrepreneurs, and students—all deeply passionate about the stock market.
What was planned as a 12-hour session stretched to over 16 hours and we still could have gone longer. That’s the kind of energy the group brought. One thing that really stood out was the exceptional female participation—clear proof of a shifting mindset. Women are now confidently managing their finances and leading discussions in rooms that were once male-dominated.
And yes, I had the privilege of co-hosting a Q&A session with Mr. Rajiv Nagpal, Head of Market Intelligence at The Economic Times. The range of questions we received—even about obscure stocks—was eye-opening. Goes to show how even the brightest minds are sometimes influenced by what’s trending online.”
Manoj Goel reflected:
“What an incredible weekend. I had the opportunity to deliver the final two days on business valuation, following Himanshu’s sessions on value investing. The participants brought amazing energy.
What stood out most was the variety of perspectives in the room. Everyone—from seasoned professionals to young learners—was deeply curious and eager to engage. We didn’t just discuss numbers; we talked about strategy, capital efficiency, investor readiness, and the long-term thinking that drives value.
Same core topic—valuation—but seen through very different lenses. That’s the beauty of teaching finance. It evolves with the people in the room.”
This collaboration with The Economic Times continues to reflect our commitment to delivering impactful finance education to India’s top talent.
Where Ideas Meet and Grow
One of the most inspiring aspects of these workshops is the level of interaction among participants. Q&A sessions often extend far beyond their scheduled time, as attendees eagerly share their own insights and experiences. It is common to see a seasoned fund manager engaged in conversation with a college student, each learning from the other’s perspective. This open exchange of ideas creates a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where knowledge flows freely, regardless of age or experience.
Each workshop has been unique, with new examples and fresh perspectives. The fifth session is set to begin on July 26 and the anticipation is building for another round of meaningful exchanges.
Looking Forward: What’s Next?
This initiative wouldn’t have been possible without The Economic Times, whose partnership helped bring these masterclasses to a wider audience. Yet, it’s the participants themselves who’ve made the experience so rich—reconnecting with fundamentals, sparking new curiosities, and simply enjoying the process of learning together.
At The Wall Street School, we’ve always believed in the power of practical, real-world education. These masterclasses have only deepened that belief. We look forward to continuing this journey, fostering more shared insights, building new connections, and growing a community of lifelong learners.
